Hi Mommy plus everyone else!
Things are going pretty well here at the MTC. I will be sending a letter today for all of you. Just keep in mind that the letter may not make any sense! I think I might have gotten the flu so I had to sleep in today on my P day. I'm not going to lie... it felt sooooooooooooooooooo good! I forgot to put my MTC mail address on my blog. It's:
SISTER CARIANNE HOSHIKO HIRANO
MTC Mailbox #197
WA-SEA 1004
2005 N. 900 E.
Provo, Utah 84604-1793
Also, a lot of people here use dearelder.com more in the MTC than in the field. All you have to do is go to that website and type in an email what you want to write to me. The email is sent to the MTC fax machine and we are able to get those letters that same day. Cool huh?
I have learned a lot from both of my companions. I am in a trio. Sister Graves is from Missouri and she has already served a trial mission for 3 months prior to coming to the MTC. She is very knowledgeable in the scriptures. She whips them out like nothing! Sister Harty is also such a loving, kind, and patient companion. She is constantly thinking of others before herself. I feel like it is a privilege and a blessing to be with these companions. Now that I am in the MTC I have been learning a lot about teaching. Sometimes I get discouraged when we do discussions because I feel like our teachers teach us to be serious when we teach discussions, which is definitely not who I am. I think that you can teach with power even if you aren't being serious all the time. I just don't want to lose myself while I serve. How is everyone doing? Has everyone pawned off my stuff yet? Did Mandi get her cell phone? I love and miss all of you and keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
I just had a quick thought before I get off my email. Yesterday we had relief society which is a little different as you don't have a teacher teaching but rather it's like a mini sacrament meeting without the sacrament. A sister missionary shared with us her conversion story. In her testimony she shared that she knows that Heavenly Father loves us so much as does his son, Jesus Christ. If you ever feel like either of them are not there remember that Jesus Christ died for you and for me. He never forgets you in times of affliction, trial, lonliness, temptation, or despair. He cannot forget because he's hands and feet are imprinted with the reason why he died for you. I thought that was a great thought.
Anyways, I love all of you so very much. I look forward to seeing all of you all grown up and so much more beautiful when you come pick me up!
Love,
Sister Hirano
You will love Seattle! Congrats on your mission. Exciting to have found you here online. We are in the Seattle area, also Hiranos and also LDS! Maybe you will be in our stake sometime. All the best! - Ann Hirano
