Today has been mostly planning for school tomorrow... which I am really nervous about! Upon arriving I thought I would be teaching kindergarten. However, I am actually teaching the highest level kids in ILP. They are level four which is about ten year olds and level 6 which is the graduating class (12 year olds). Preparing is a little more frustrating since I didn't plan on teaching older kids but I am going to read and prepare everything tonight so that I can do well tomorrow. Does anyone have any good ideas for these age groups? Activities, books to read? Anything? Ideas would be so great! So far I have a list of good books like Mrs. Piggy Wiggle, Ella Enchanted, Harry Potter, The Boxcar Children, Little House on the Prairie, Series of Unfortunate Events, etc.
I went shopping today and bought a light weight jacket, a pink shirt with a fish on it for pajamas, and another jacket that is navy blue and hot pink... it is actually really cute! I'm also really getting the money system here. I'm doing a lot better than before. I can figure out everything pretty fast and I have learned enough Russian to understand (or maybe enough pantomime) to understand what they are saying.
Yesterday I met Katya, Papa, and Mitya for the first time. They are so adorable! I love them so much. When I first met Vladimir he came up to me and said, "I am Papa." And I was like, "Yes you are!" haha. All last night and this morning the kids wanted to play card games called, Dorchak and Toilet.... haha. They were actually really fun! The kids are also crazy about marshmallows. They chowed down about a whole bag just last night!
We also ate at the school for the first time. We had bread and borsh... it was really good! Then we had boiled chicken, mashed potatoes, and cucumbers. They serve cucumbers with like everything. It is so funny. My sister would really like it here because she can eat cucumbers like none other! I love you Alyssa! Anyways, that's enough for today... I'll see how tomorrow goes! Yikes!
